Isn’t it interesting that we all make resolutions for the new year? And even more interesting is how few of us can keep them very long. So I suggest the following three simple resolutions as the most critical to your long term success in the world of sustainable charitable work.
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to walk from here?”
“That depends a great deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cheshire Cat.
“I don’t much care where -----“ said Alice.
“The it doesn’t matter which way you walk", said the Cat.
That conversation from Alice In Wonderland is essentially what I frequently hear from board members. While not walking, most want somebody to tell them where they are supposed to be going.
“What we have here is a failure to communicate....” That was one of my favorite
movies. Remember Cool Hand Luke? It was a classic example of two characters not
speaking the same language. And that’s what I find is too often the challenge of
