- To be challenged - money isn't the measure of their activity
- To be coached - they seek mentors and learning opportunities
- To be trusted - they want more freedom to do things
- To be thanked - they seek immediate recognition and feedback
Dr. Nelson says that millennials are the youngest generation in the workplace that now makes up the largest percentage of workers at 36%. As 10,000 baby boomers retire each day (70 million in the decade ahead), the number of millennials in the workplace is growing rapidly. They are projected to make up 75% of the workforce by 2025.
Clearly these young folks will grow and succeed and be our key prospects in the future. So get them acquainted with your work now and they will be key donors in the future. If you believe in you work, remember ... sometimes you need to plant a tree under which you will never sit.
